The Give Thanks Project began in 2015.  On February 2, 2023, the organization was established as a Nonprofit Corporation in the state of South Carolina.  The Give Thanks Project, Inc. serves families at the Ronald McDonald House in the Chicago and Charlotte area.

"This organization was born through a burning passion for helping others. As a mother who experienced the hardships of having my children in the hospital for periods of time, I know the joy that simple acts of kindness from a stranger can bring. Year after year, our mission is to show up for families on Thanksgiving to remind them they are not alone and to bring them hope and joy."

"The Give Thanks Project is our small but effective way to provide a bit of compassion for our community. It's a reminder to count our blessings, and I look forward to it every year. It takes a lot of hard work, but it pays off when we get to see the gratitude in the families we meet on Thanksgiving Day."

"I’m passionate about driving positive change for others in this world. I hope that making Thanksgiving hospital stays less traumatic for families provides a moment of peace during a challenging time. As a cancer survivor, I know how meaningful small acts of kindness are during treatment. The Walker family is constantly giving to the community. I feel very grateful to have them as close friends and to be part of this program."

Lana Callahan, Board Member

"Having brought a 3 year old through childhood cancer, The Gives Thanks Project is near and dear to my heart! The help we received from family and friends during our challenge was so appreciated … and we know that it’s our turn to pay it forward. Having founded and run a philanthropy for two years, I’m delighted to lend my experience and efforts to continue to help others in need."

"I love that what began as a difficult medical journey for the Walker kids turned into a positive and uplifting experience for families facing journeys of their own. I am passionate about serving the Give Thanks Project because I believe in its mission, and I want to continue to give families hope during the holidays."
